What worked well in your collaboration?  Me and Mac and Rio are good friends. We all chipped in a bit and got the job done.

Was there anything difficult about working together? There is always going to be problems with working in groups and because we were friends we did get a bit carried away at times.

What do you feel successful about? I am happy about how the machine turned out would make another one if I could.

Prep Week 9

Hello, welcome back to my blog. I am nearly finished with my prep project. On Wednesday, I did a little bit of work on painting my stars. I only need to sand the edges of them and then I am done. The paint that I used was oil paint for the silver and gold, and then normal for white.

Here the three horsemen of stars: Gold, Silver and White.

1. Do you feel your team has worked well together? How so? 

I have worked well today, because I AGAIN changed my poster and sanded some the edges of my stars.

2. What have you done to get over difficulties or challenges? 

When I have been faced with a challenge, I have nailed down to finish the task.

3. How has your teacher helped you to become business prepared for market day? 

My teachers have given me constructive feedback and my dad helped me a TON for making the stars.

Prep Week 7

 Kia Ora and welcome back to my blog.

I have done a bit of work at home for Prep by doing the first 3 cuts on my stars. At school today I changed my poster from Green Red and Gold to White, Silver, and Gold. Also, I made up a deal for 3 stars for 12$. Today I worked hard on sanding my first star so then when It comes to finishing the rest, I have a good template.

Here are my reflection questions:

1. What went well today for you and your team?  Think about your teamwork and your group’s product idea. Today I put in a lot of work sanding the star to make sure it was the highest quality.

2. What was difficult?  Why do you think that was?  I didn't find too many things difficult today because I was working really well.

3. What are the three new business terms you learned today? I have not learned any new business terms today

4. What do you need to work on in preparation for the PREP lessons next week? I need to make the last two cuts for the rest of my stars. And I might paint the first one to see how it looks.

Week 6 of Prep

Welcome back to my blog.

Today I have made designs for my stars and made a poster to advertise them.I learnt how to use the printer from my computer to print a star and my poster.

I think during 2nd block I got a bit off task so I really need try and stay on task next week. In 1st block I worked really well in making a design for my star. Miss Kirkpatrick helped me to tidy up the star in the afternoon. I also worked well when I was making my poster simple, informative, eye-catching and visually appealing.

Here are my reflection questions...

How do you think you have used your time today? I have managed my time all right, but I could improve my time management.

What has been your biggest achievement today? My biggest achievement today was making the design for my star and making my poster.

Name someone in your class (from another group) who you think is making a cool product. What is their product and why do you think it will sell. Cohen Liang is making chopping boards and I think they will sell well because they are very unique and different.

What do you need to do to make sure you will be on task for next week? Next week I will make an effort to think about my work and not other things.

Prep Week 5!

Hello! Welcome to this week's blog post.

Today for prep I have cut another star on the band saw and also I have carved some words into my originals. I haven't learn't any business terms today because I have been in the workshop all day. I learn't in the weekends about white sandpaper which instead of evening a surface makes it smooth. I brought some with me today to make my stars smooth. 

This has been a brief update about prep and see you next week.

Week 2 Term 4 Reflection (Part 2!)

 This Is part 2 of my reflection.

A thing that went well for me is my resource template, and I redesigned my logo so it was more simple and relevant to my product.

I think I should keep a more positive attitude so I can get more work done.

I learned 2 new business terms today one was about profits. The second one is making deals.

Week 2 Term 4 Reflection

Today for prep I finished my recourse template. The recourse template is a template that you put down your resources, their cost, where to get them from, and what quantity of that resources

For my Christmas decorations Get a log and cut a star shape through it and then, slice them and glitter on the edges. I will do the cutting at home and the glitter and glue at school.

The sustainable part of my project is that the wood that I use should Sustain a good life.

Prep 2020!

 Hi. This term the Year 7 and 8's are doing something called prep. In prep, you have to make a product to sell at the end of year market day. All profits go towards the Saint Vincent De Paul charity. I am going to make Christmas tree decorations. Here is my reflection for week one.

What went well today for you and your team?  Think about your teamwork, and your group’s product idea. I am by myself but thinking of good ideas.What was difficult?  Why do you think that was?  I think it is difficult to Manage myself because I was working around my friends.    What is a new business term you learnt today? Not much because I have heaps of time..

Term 4 - A thing of the past

Kia Ora! Welcome to another blog post. I just want to say, term 4 has been EPIC. Oh, that's why I'm writing this post. Anyway, let's dive straight into the action.

This term our inquiry topic was Culture City! Culture City is were we study different cultures from around the world. In MLH we have been making almost information reports about countries. But our main focuses within culture city have been the arts. Dance, Drama Visual art and Music.  Each week there is 2 countries and you choose 1 each week to research🌏. I had a slow start to finishing projects but I finished strong.💪

My Mexico Project!

Another thing we have been doing this term is... Just dance and furniture olympics. Just dance is when there is a dance on the projector and you copy it. Furniture olympics is when you have to make an object out of people and all of the people have to be touching.👫    

Another AMAZING thing we did this term is the Turanganui schools haka festival. But I don't need to tell you much about that. Click here to see my awesome post about the Kapa Haka Festival.

A few Songs/Chants

Just to add on to the awesome stuff we've done this term, we've done our school athletics. That was real cool 😎. And with the house groups, it was even cooler! Everyone was cheering for their house. Me personally, I'm not a big fan of athletics and I'm not the best at it either but having everyone smiling and dressed in there house colors made me smile.😊

 Now, maybe one of my favorite moments this term, the intermediate visits. My intermediate is Campion and I visited there. We took a bus there (I'm going to have catch it next year). And explored the school. All of us visitors did science and art classes. We went to the church, learnt a bit about that. I liked joining in with some of the present student's games.  For the day we basically became students of the school! I think I made a good choice for my intermediate.

But choosing intermediates also comes with a catch - leaving you're primary school! (Dun Dun Dun!!) I am sad to leave Wainui Beach School but I am excited for a new adventure. This could well be one of my last blog posts so if it is goodbye my friends! 😭😭

Kapa Haka Festival 2019!!

Haramai a Paoa

On Wednesday, 20 of November we (Wainui Beach School) went to and performed at Turanganui Schools Maori Cultural Festival. As my Puipui brushed against the black curtain side stage, nerves built up through Nui syndicate and I, as we waited to be cued on to the stage. The kapa haka festival was being held at the immaculate A&P showground stage. This was it.

We strode proudly onto the stage, as the crowd cheered. Hunter marched forward, beautifully singing Tu Mai Ra, our school song. The front row of boys followed, and once a triangle was formed, we (front row) knelt down. When we finished Tu Mai Ra, next on the agenda to sing (well, chant) was Haramai a Paoa. Our group formed into a square and sung chanted Haramai A Paoa. Then came Puria Nei and Ka Pioioi, our action songs. After that, maybe the best part... Utaina. Utaina is where the boys transition to the front to do the Haka. Utaina was phenomenal. For the first part of Utaina, we (Nui Syndicate) sung it as a collective. For the second part the boys did the Utaina Haka and the girls sung Utaina again. The haka has amazing. We (The boys) did Ka Mate and our School haka. We boomed all the words to the crowd and got a huge round of applause.  Then we sung Wainui e. It was fantastic! We got the biggest applause. Our final waiata was He Honore.

My favorite part was Utaina and the Haka/s. The melody of our singing was amazing and the volume of our chants and hakas was booming. I did think that we went quite fast for a few things. Our performance was 13 minutes. It felt faster and slower in  different times. We put lots of effort into our performance. 
I thought that the Kapa Haka Festival was awesome! I really hope I can do it at Campion next year.

Inter school Rugby

This term I have participated in the Inter school rugby. Our team started out as a bunch of soccer players and a couple of rugby players. We came a long way as we got 2nd in our division. I played either left wing of Fullback/sweeper. Playing for the school was really fun and I am going to play rugby for a club next year. Here are some photos. Our coaches were committed to make us a better team and I really acknowledge them. I did this by saying "Thank you" after every game and training. Rugby wouldn't have happened for us if Richard and Tom (Our Coaches) hadn't have volunteered their time for us.

Thunder Strikes Again!

Saturday was the big day. I walked out as the starting nine for our football match against Mangapapa.

Our lineup was : Me, left back, Chester, Center back, Toby, right back. Then Sam, right midfield, Ziggy, center midfield , Gavin left midfield. And our strikers were Seve on the right and Kya on the left. Last but definitely not least Nikau in goalkeeper. Our team had confidence from winning the inter school soccer tournament a couple of weeks ago. The first half was tight we scored two goals to nill for Mangapapa. All of my team wanted redemption from last year's final witch was 4-1. But we also new that Mangapapa wasn't in the final just to get the silver medal.

In the second half we built our lead to 4-0 but mangapapa got a crack goal against our basicly unstoppable goalkeeper Nikau. So in the last 10 minutes we new mangapapa was capable of scoring 3 or 4 more goals so the defenders (I'm a defender) would really come in to play. So we collaborated with the strikers and mids and nailed down a 5tht goal. Mangapapa didn't score another goal so we redeemed our team with the win. It felt so good when the referee blew the whistle. My team and I got awarded medals for both the knockout cup and the league. We also got the trophies for the knockout cup and league as well. I even got player of the month! So, Thunder struck again! And everyone heard this time!

Marae Noho

Kia Ora,
On Thursday, 12th September Nui syndicate and I went to our school marae, Te Poho-o-Rawiri! Once Everyone in Nui syndicate had arrived, the tangata whenua (People of the land) welcomed us on to the marae. Once we had been welcomed on to the marae we got told lot of cool stories about the marae. After that, we all sat down and ate our packed lunch to recharge for rotations. Eventually, we got into our groups for rotations and did some of the activities. Next, we all sat down and finished of our packed lunches

After our lunches were eaten and we were full of yummy kai, we got to work making our beds. A bed consisted of two buddies to sleep together. After all was set and done with mattresses, we washed our hands and loaded into the Wharekai for dinner. Our dinner was delicious nachos and dessert was an ice-block and apple. Finally, the moment we'd all been practicing for was... the student performances! Firstly, the whole of Nui syndicate did our Kapa Haka witch was some Waiata and Haka that we will be performing at the Turanganui-A-Kiwa kapa haka festival.  After that, there were a few more acts until the Sunshine ukes Ukulele group. I was in it and we played a few songs and then everyone got to see their parents. Then the final act of the night... the sunshine ukes played a song called "Riptide". After all that we all got ready for bed. It took a long time to get to sleep but gradually most people got to sleep 😉😉.

The next morning we all got up and had breakfast and got dressed. The we did a Powhiri to welcome wai students onto the Marae. Then we assembled in our rotational groups. We did some more rotations in our group until it was time for lunch. We had hot dogs for lunch. Finally, it was time to pack the bus. We did so and then left of for school. I had an amazing time at Te Poho O Rawiri and I wish could stay longer😭.

Term 2 Wrap-up!

Honestly, term 2 has been one of the most epic terms in my life. For example, Retro Tech has been an awesome inquiry topic. We got to go on phenomenal trips, and learn about cool gizmos and gadgets of the 20th century. I'll show you some photos from term 2.

It all started of with the Anzac service at the start of term.

We also learnt lots about WW1 and what it was like in the trenches and how brutal it was. We learnt about different soldiers and their jobs and how tough it was how to be away from your family for so long. Also the mental damage the soldiers revived.

We also did some weeding and mulching at the Hamanatua stream.

It was really good just to get out there and help the native trees.
We saw how bad the underpass and Hamanatua stream had been looked after.
We learned lots of tricks on how to mulch the trees and look after them. We learnt to make a sort of "donut" of mulch around the trees. I found a new friend. Her name is "Flow" the Whau tree. We had an epic time at Hamanatua, and we hope to do it the next couple of terms.

Now, down to business. Retro Tech. I bet you've been itching to see what Retro Tech is.
Well, Retro Tech, um, is Retro Tech! So I'll break it down for you. Retro for example, is 1980s bold fashion. And tech, is like computers that stuff is tech.

Like is said, Term 2 has been one of the coolest terms ever!!!!!

Maths Strand- probability

Welcome back to my blog. It feels like I haven't seen you for years!

Anyway, let's dive right into this next post.

In my maths strand group, we've been working on probability.

As you can see in the video, I have narrowed the chance of getting an even pair of socks, and, the likelihood of getting an even pair of socks is 25%

Camp Kaitawa 2019

In week 7  Wainui Beach School Year 6's went on camp. Camp Kaitawa was Phenomenal! We went up Panekire Bluff, we went kayaking, swimming and caving. My favorite part of camp was caving and also kayaking in Lake Kaitawa.

Weet-Bix Try!

I did... yep, you guessed it, I did the 27th annual Weetbix Tryathlon.

I really loved completing it and being awarded my gold medal.

Me and Mac did the try in a team- I did the swim and Mac did the bike then, we ran together.

In the morning we played heaps of fun games, winning magnets to drink bottles and when we completed the tryathlon Mac and I went on the inflatable obstacle coarse. 

And we got to miss school!😉
